Caring for people in North West Wales who have life threatening illnesses.

Gwynedd Hospice at Home was registered as a charity in 1990 following a successful appeal to the general public for £500,000 to establish and provide a 'Home Nursing Service' for patients in the old county of Gwynedd. The service became operational in 1992 and following its development, the Hospice Nursing Service is now working within the Department of Palliative Care of the North West Wales NHS Trust alongside their Medical and Nursing Colleagues, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, all of whom work closely with the Primary Health Care Teams.

The Charity also provides support to help patients live as actively as possible and to help the family cope both during the patients illness and in their bereavement. The Day Hospice is an integral part of this support and this centre is located on the Ysbyty Gwynedd site in Bangor (Hafan Menai).

In order to provide a more comprehensive service to a largely rural area we support 9 Complementary Therapy clinics and offer transport services for patients to attend day centres. Home visits by volunteers are also available to relieve carers or to offer company to people who live alone.
